Shigatse

Shigatse prefecture corresponds roughly to the historic Tsang region and is located in the south-western part of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Before liberation, it was an important administration region called “Tsangyul”. Successive Panchen Lamas ruled it with the administrative centre of Shigatse city.
